The Art Gallery of Western Australia has historically benefited from the generosity of people contributing to the development of the State Art Collection through bequests.

We understand that writing your will is an extremely personal matter, and naturally some people will prefer not to discuss it with those outside of their immediate family. However, if you would like to support the Art Gallery of Western Australia in this special way,  we invite you to let the Foundation know of your intentions, so that we can acknowledge your support today.

A bequest will allow you and your family to make a significant and lasting contribution to the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

Types of Bequests

Bequests can take the form of:

  • a specific asset, such as a work of art
  • a set amount of funds as a gift, or
  • a percentage of your estate.

If you would like more information please contact the Development Director.

Tax Treatments of Donations

The Art Gallery of Western Australia Foundation is a tax deductible gift recipient under the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (it is covered by items 1 & 4 of the table in section 30-15 of the Act).

Donations of $2.00 or more are tax deductible.

Gifts of works of art are also tax deductible under the Federal Government's Taxation Incentives for the Arts Scheme.

Bequests of works of art accepted by the Gallery made under the Federal Government's Cultural Bequests Program are tax deductible.
